One post can contain several kinds of media
A public X post may contain a standard video, a GIF-style looping video, one photo, or a gallery. Link preview cards and quoted posts are different: their media may belong to another page or post, so a downloader may not expose them as native attachments.

MP4 video variants
Video posts can expose several MP4 encodes. They represent alternate combinations of dimensions and bitrate created for different connections and screens. A higher label generally means a larger file and more retained detail, but the exact variants depend on the post. Why “GIFs” are often MP4
An animation that looks like a GIF in the timeline is commonly delivered as a silent, looping MP4. JPG, PNG and WebP images
Photo posts are often delivered as JPEG-like resources, while graphics may appear as PNG or WebP depending on the source and delivery path. The downloader does not invent an “original” that is not exposed; it requests the available public image URL and avoids adding another compression step.
